It’s an All-Star cast of local DJ talent at BRAZA! on April 6th!!! Starting the night off and getting the dance floor warm is DJ Antonino, the Italian-born international music aficionado who has been making a local name for himself through his radio show personality and eclectic selections on the World Fridays show on KCSF and numerous night club gigs around the Bay Area. Next up we got none other than Señor Oz, one half of the brothers of Afrolicious who have been keeping us dancing every Thursday night at the Elbo Room for years now. In signature style he’ll be accompanied by live percussion to keep the dance floor sizzling! Then its DJ Carioca (aka Chris Thomas), zabumba extraordinaire of Forró Brazuca and life long Brazilian beat digger ever since birth in his home town of a Cidade Maravilhosa, Rio de Janeiro. Of course it wouldn’t be a BRAZA! party if resident DJ Elan didn’t dig through his crates once again to serve up another healthy sampling of Brazilian beats & treats and bundalicious batuque!! SOM is the place to be on April 6th. Vamos nessa!!!

People living in oil producing areas of the Niger Delta have seen their human rights undermined by oil companies that the Nigerian government has failed to hold to account. The oil extraction industry is responsible for widespread pollution of the Niger Delta environment. Oil spills, waste dumping and gas flaring are endemic. Pollution has damaged crucial sources of livelihood, including farming and fisheries, pushing many people deeper into poverty. There is an urgent need for a comprehensive clean-up of polluted areas of the Niger Delta, and for effective remedies for affected individuals and communities. The Nigerian government must strengthen regulation of the oil extraction industry to ensure that companies are held accountable for the impacts of oil pollution on human rights and the environment, and to prevent further abuses.
